PSA Gives Thanks: Our Annual Tradition
Posted in: News
It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is already around the corner. It has been a year of exciting changes and growth for PSA that we have made with our clients’ best interests in mind. With both change and growth comes hard work and commitment for which our staff has gone above and beyond.
At PSA, we have created an annual tradition of stopping our daily routines for a few hours in order to share a Thanksgiving meal together and reflect on all the things for which we are thankful including our loyal clients and employees. Banquet style long tables, candles, tablecloths, and autumn décor set the ambiance while a fully catered meal with everyone’s favorite Thanksgiving trimmings satisfy appetites. And of course nothing says family holiday more than a little friendly competition, which is why we also include a dessert contest as a part of our festivities. Everyone including leadership has a lot of fun baking, eating and judging the desserts (cakes, pies, cookies, and bars) based on appearance, flavor and texture.
This annual tradition allows leadership the opportunity to extend our sincerest thanks and gratitude to our incredibly hard working and committed staff members who make up our PSA family. I always look forward to this celebration and this year is certainly no different. Several PSA staff members gave me permission to share some of their thoughtful comments with our blog readers about why PSA Thanksgiving is special to them:
“Every year I look forward to Thanksgiving. It is a happy holiday where no matter your background, religious beliefs, sports affiliations or family situation, we can come together to celebrate. The PSA Thanksgiving is my favorite PSA event because it is the only time of the year where every employee takes a break, shares a meal and celebrates for no other reason than being thankful.” – Angela Purdum, Employee Benefits
“Thanksgiving with my PSA family is just as important and meaningful to me as Thanksgiving with my actual family. I am very thankful that I work with such a great group of people and it is nice that we are able to take time to celebrate this holiday together.” – Becky Barth, IT
“Thanksgiving at PSA is just one of many things that make the company feel like family. Sharing food, fun and laughter with my colleagues is really special and helps make working at PSA a wonderful experience.” – Leah Semanie, Retirement Plans
During our Thanksgiving meal, we also show appreciation to our community. PSA staff signs several holiday cards, which we send to soldiers via the Operation Gratitude to express our gratitude for their service.
I’m also looking forward to delivering the food we have collected for our annual Thanksgiving can food drive so that others may join us in sharing this special time of thanks and giving.
Last year our PSA family donated more than 1,000 food items or the equivalent of 655 pounds of food and cash to the Community Assistance network. This year we beat that goal and our amazing employees donated 1,339 canned food and personal hygiene products, which weighed 878 pounds! The Community Assistance Network feeds 40-50 families daily so they are in need of donations, and our staff has really stepped up to the plate to help.
Join us in our effort by donating this holiday season to the Community Assistance Network. If you and your family are interested in helping, please contact (410) 285-4674 ext.111 / info@canconnects.org and check out www.canconnects.org for more information.
From our PSA family to yours – have a blessed Thanksgiving holiday!
