Michelle Worsham Partners with PSA to Support Kennedy Krieger’s International Center for Spinal Cord Injury

At PSA, we are committed to giving back to the community. Our employees are encouraged to nominate a non-profit organization of their choice to be considered as the recipient of PSA’s employee charitable fund donation. A different employee-nominated non-profit is selected to receive the funds on a quarterly basis.

The 2022 third quarter recipient of the funds is Kennedy Krieger’s International Center for Spinal Cord Injury, nominated by Michelle Worsham, a Client Advocate at PSA.

Kennedy Krieger’s International Center for Spinal Cord Injury provides medically supervised therapy programs that use techniques to help people with chronic spinal cord injuries. The Center’s philosophy states that with the right combination of therapies a patient may regain some degree of sensation and movement within their body. This can lead to an overall improvement in the patient’s health and quality of life, even months or years after an injury or diagnosis occurs. The Center provides outpatient treatment programs for individuals of all ages and inpatient programs for patients under 21.

Michelle Worsham nominated Kennedy Krieger’s International Center for Spinal Cord Injury because she wanted to support a cause that is so near and dear to her heart. In 1993, Michelle suffered a spinal cord injury in a sledding accident causing her to break her back and serve her spinal cord in half. She spent eight days in Shock Trauma and spent the following 2 months as an inpatient at Good Samaritan Hospital. The accident left her with a Complete Spinal Cord injury, permanently damaging the affected area of the spine, resulting in her becoming a paraplegic.

As someone who has experienced a spinal cord injury firsthand, Michelle admires all of the amazing work and dedication Kennedy Krieger provides their spinal cord injury patients, especially with their inpatient programs for children.
